In 2021 Mike Hughes created Mile 23 Design, named after the road his grandparents' cabin was on.  The cabin was built with natural elements including stone, wood beams, and live edge furniture.  With windows looking into the woods and the top of Mt. Timpanogos, it was a peaceful place to be.

Mike became interested in woodworking after he repurposed a kitchen table when he was newly married. Over the following years he collected tools, leveled up in projects, and eventually started making furniture for clients. Woodworking serves as a creative outlet, an opportunity to make things for others, and a contrast to Mike's full-time corporate finance job.
